Kohima to celebrate World Music Day

 Symphony Academy of Music (SAM) has set stage to host the fourth World Music Day (WMD) that falls on June 21 at The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow starting 4.30 P.M.

Popular bands like Papersky, Lord of Rocks, UDX, Purple Fusion, Divine Connection, Verir, Lui Tzudir, Seyievinuo Chüzo, Joshua Shohe feat Zubeni Kikon, Annie’s OK and The Paradigm Shift are the line-up for the occasion while the guest artist Ambush Assam will also join the stage.

Besides the music extravagance, music lovers will be treated with refreshments, wristbands, stickers, badges, CDs and free admission for music class at the spot.

Informing this to media persons Friday in Kohima, director SAM, Mele Pucho said WMD was a day of celebration for musicians and towards this he said the musicians intend to treat their friends and music lovers with the finest artists in the state. He expressed joy stating that WMD was one of the most successful event organized after Hornbill festival and said the best bands are coming together to treat their music fans.

Also he informed that to break through the free music culture, they have set an amount of Rs. 100 as entry fee however he said all the crowd will be provided with free gifts worth more than Rs. 100.

Host, Yanpvuo Kikon said the event promote the local musicians and also to connect with the youth.

On the separate event organized by the Music Task Force on the same occasion, Kikon informed that though the two organizers could not team up, it was better since that way, more artists could be accommodated and said “we need to encourage more than competing”.

Meanwhile “Seflie contest” will be held on the occasion where the winner will receive an acoustic guitar. Interested persons have been asked to upload the picture in facebook/instagram and contact the symphony academy of music, tag SAM and five persons or more, follow musicians guild, caption and “I am going to be there #WMDHERITAGE”.

The organizers informed that the picture that received maximum ‘likes’ will be adjudged as the winner of the contest.

Ruopfüzhano Whiso, Mengu Suokhrie and Yanpvuo Kikon will be the host of the event.
