Kohima Town Club launches jersey for 3rd KFL

Kohima Town Club (KTC) officially launched the 3rd edition of the Kohima Football League and unveiled clubs jersey on Saturday at Where is the Food (WTF) restaurant, New Minister’s Hill, Kohima View Point, near Cathedral church in Kohima. 

In his address, K.Kire, IPS retired DGP, Nagaland and adviser KTC who graced the occasion as special guest, observed that sportspersons are better citizens than the others. “We have certain discipline, sportsman spirt that is the beauty in all of us,” he said, adding that sports bring people together and a sense of belonging to certain fraternity.  K.Kire  who revealed he was a sportsperson too, said winning and losing were part of the game. He said  the tournament will helped the players make new friends and that such friendship will last forever.

As a Nagaland veteran football association president, he said the tournament was to keep the veterans players fit and also encourage the youngsters to take football.

He hoped that through the tournament,  players will get together, know each other better and build friendship while exhibiting their true sportsmanship during the game. 

He also advised players to forgive and forget when the referees commit a mistakes, stating we are all human beings and further asked them to observe sportsmanship. 

Seven clubs- defending champions Sechü Zubza FC, Vanguard FC, Khriekesa FC, Forerunner, United 16 FC, A.Yhome FC and Kohima Eagles FC gave a brief introduction of the club and their respective team jerseys for the league. 

The program was chaired by convener, 3rd KFL Mathew Yhome, invocation by secretary to Bishop, Rev. Fr. Renthungo Victor and Ruopfü Meyase proposed the vote of thanks.

The 3rd edition will began from June 8 to the 26th at astro turf IG Stadium Kohima.
