KSA resents ‘Baichitramoy Asom’ dictate

Correspondent Diphu, Aug 5 | Publish Date: 8/5/2019 11:47:59 AM IST

The Karbi Students Association (KSA) has resented the move by SEBA to prepare question papers from the chapter “Baichitramoy Asom” for classes 9 and 10, in which Karbi and Dimasa are excluded.

Thang Sing Timung, general secretary of KSA has expressed disappointment over the issue and condemned SEBA for its action. He further added that Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, renowned artist, poet, writer, had referred to the Karbis as the Columbus of Assam or ‘Discoverer of Assam’. So, we would like to remind SEBA and Education minister  Shiddarta Bhattacharya with simple examples that the words “Kaziranga” was derived from the Karbi words Kajir-Arong which means ” The village of Kajir”.

The KSA has, therefore, urged the education minister, chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and executive members of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao autonomous districts to look into the matter and review the decision of the State government.
