KSCDL seminar for women groups

Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL), in collaboration with Green Team Kohima (GTK), organised a seminar for women groups in Kohima town on August 9 at KMC Hall, where altogether 58 women from 32 organisations and churches attended and pledged on five-point of action.

A press release from joint CEO, KSCDL, stated that the pledges included inclusion of waste management as a topic in Church or organisation programmes and seminars, to practice waste segregation and home composting, to propagate concept of “my waste, my responsibility”, to practice and promote use of cloth bags only and to be ambassadors for environment protection. 

CEO, KSCDL, Kovi Meyase, welcomed all participants and stated that they have the choice of coming out from the tag, “second most unlivable city” and becoming one of the smartest cities among the 100 cities chosen in India.  He further stated that every citizen has to play active role towards Kohima becoming smart. It was also pointed out that women were best agents of awareness creation, and when women come together, anything was possible. 

GTK led participants in group work on present scenario of waste management where different groups presented collective best practices, through which there was exchange of ideas and sharing of experiences. 

Roko Savino, a local inventor demonstrated on anaerobic, odourless and organic home composting, which was met with much curiosity, enthusiasm and multiple queries. He also handed out free samples of bacterial pulp to all participants to be used not only in composting but also in septic tanks for anaerobic bacteria treatment.

During the seminar a five-point action plan was adopted by the participants.
