KSU bans entry of tourists

Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) Wednesday announced its decision to completely restrict both foreign and domestic tourists from entering Mon district in view of the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a press release, KSU president Bumang Phaiba and general secretary Phoe Konyak said the resolution to this effect was taken at an emergency meeting of the union held on March 10, 2020.
As regards, the KU has urged the responsible law enforcing authority and district administration for “strict compliance and vigilance in ensuring the public safety by checking tourists entering Mon district, especially ahead of upcoming Aoleang Festival.”
The union has also appealed to the state government to take up preventive measures and precautions. Further, KU has appealed to all the medical staff of Mon district to be stationed at respective posting place. Besides, it also advised the public to avoid travelling to other district/state/country “during this critical situation.”
