Kudawhi Union Dimapur (KUD) held its general meeting at Tenyiphe I village council hall with chairman Kohima Village Council (KVC), Dr. Neiphi Kire as special guest on April 27.

A press release from KUD secretary, David Sekhose stated that Dr. Kire, laying stress on the challenging issue of Illegal Bangaladeshi Immigrants (IBIs), said that the KVC, under his leadership, has taken drastic steps to eradicate the menace. He added that it was high time every individual, irrespective of community, fight together before it is too late.
He said Nagaland was a small state with a limited area and if Nagas keep accommodating illegals, the Nagas may become a minority in their own land like in Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh.
He called upon the gathering to cooperate with the KUD because, he said, unity is the root for the prosperity of everyone. Coming to other subjects, Dr. Kire also opined that book knowledge and degrees should be given the topmost priority to churn out educated and responsible persons. He said that preserving one's own tradition and customs as well as the mother tongue should be given equal importance. He later released the newly printed constitution of KUD.
James Vizo president KUD, speaking on the occasion, highlighted the aims and objectives of the organization.
The meeting adopted various resolutions for the KUD’s welfare. Short speeches were delivered by Lhouyielie Mephfü, David Sekhose and Mhasikhotuo Phewhuo. Thejanuo Kire and Kudawhimiapfü Mechü Krotho presented a song and Diphupar youth presented a choreographed performance.
