KVK activities in Longleng, Zunheboto

Farmers scientist interaction programme at Bhumnyu village Longleng was conducted by ICAR, KVK Longleng on March 3. 

A press release from KVK Longleng stated that, resource persons were Dr. Lily Ngullie, ACTO (animal science), Yuimi R (technical officer) and A. Namei (SRF), assisted by Chulen Phom and Lisa Angh, area co-ordinator (livelihood) Longleng block and Lanuakum DPD, ATMA Longleng. Topics on cultivation practices of king chilli, oyster mushroom production for sustainable income generation, improved upland/Jhum rice cultivation and sustainable pig farming and disease management were discussed during the programme

Programme was chaired by village council chairman Bhumnyu village, wherein he extended gratitude to KVK, Longleng for conducting the programme. Altogether, 104 farmers participated at the programme.

Zunheboto: L. Holuto Ayemi of Tichipami village under Zunheboto district of Nagaland got IARI Innovative Farmers Award at Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela ICAR, New Delhi from minister of state Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Kailash Choudhary in presence of director general, ICAR, Dr. Trilochan Mahapatra. Programme was held from March 1 to 3. 

A press release from KVK Zunheboto senior scientist and head, Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia stated that, Holuto was awarded for his innovative cardamom spike cutter, designed and conceptualised by him. 

The spike cutter is of very low cost and efficiency and has led a way forward for cardamom growers for easy harvesting and maximising their production. 

His innovation was recognized earlier by KVK, Zunheboto and was proposed for IARI, Innovative Farmer Award. His innovation KVK, Zunheboto, Nagaland University congratulated him for his valuable contribution to the farming community.
