KVK conducts skill trainings

KVK, Dimapur and Kiphire, conducted skill development training programs, sponsored by the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI), New Delhi, on job roles, “Vermicompost Producer” and “Mushroom grower”, for 200 hours, from February to March. 

A press release from senior scientist & head, KVK Dimapur, Jyotish Barman, stated that during the training, the farmers were trained on the importance and scope of vermicompost in organic farming, general earthworm knowledge, different organic materials sources, harvesting, marketing, health and safety hazards etc. 
Under the mushroom grower skill training program, participants were taught the scope and importance of mushrooms, cultivation techniques of commercially important mushrooms, designing appropriate cultivation sites, undertaking disease and insect pest management activities, harvesting, post harvest management procedures, and basic entrepreneurial activities for small enterprise etc.
The training sessions comprised of both theory and practical classes. The release stated that the program ended with an assessment organized from ASCI, and a one day exposure visit where they interacted with progressive farmers. 
Altogether 25 farmers from Dimapur and Kiphire participated in the skill training program.
