KVK farmers training in Noklak

A one-day training program under the division of Plant Protection and Soil Conservation (PPSC) was conducted on August 17 by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tuensang for farmers of Noklak.

A press release from KVK Tuensang stated that resource person SMS (Plant Protection), Eliseni Tsopoe, spoke on the general management of insect-pests and diseases in winter vegetables and highlighted the organic approaches for pest and disease management. During the training, a film on demonstration of insect trap probe, which is the latest technology invented by TNAU for dealing with storage pests in grains, was also shown.

ACTO (Soil Conservation) KVK Tuensang, Imtilemla highlighted to the farmers the importance of soil and water conservation and nutrient management. 

She trained the farmers on dual cropping of Azolla with TRC paddy for soil nutrient management and for getting assured increase in yield. As part of the training program, the KVK distributed azolla culture to the participants. 

The farmers also assured the resource persons that they would adopt the trained practices. The program was chaired by president of Thang Noklak Range Public Organization & Farmers Organization, L. Hangthing.

Altogether 47 beneficiaries including 16 females from Noklak town, Nokyan, Nokyan B, Kusong and Noklak village attended the training program.
