KVK Lumami vocational training

Vocational training-cum-demonstration was conducted on the theme “Empowering women through skill based training” by KVK, Nagaland University, Lumami from November 7 to 11.  A press release from senior scientist and head Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia stated that,  altogether 25 women participants from Akuluto town attended the same. They were trained on various methods of food processing and preservations techniques. The main focus of the training was to enable the women folk to learn various methods not only for home consumption but also to help them to generate source of income in a small way. Each day was utilised for a specific training for such as ginger candy, soynuts and preparation of various pickles from vegetables and fruits locally available. 

The training was conducted by Narola Anichari (home science), KVK. Valedictory function was held on November 11 where Dr. Rakesh Chaurasia expressed happiness and asked the SHGs to take advantage of the skill training programme and start their own business. He also asked them to be proactive in their approach and not to wait for any subsidies from the government. Programme ended with distribution of certificates and some equipments to the participants.
