KVK organizes training on mushroom cultivation in Mon

An intensive seven-day skill training programme for rural youth, women SHG and NGOs on mushroom production technology  was organized by KVK, Mon  at its premises from August 29  to September 4. The programme was sponsored by SAMETI, Medziphema.

A press release by senior scientist & head, Dr Ruokuovilie Mezhatsu said that ACTO (GPB), Dr Manoj Singh Sachan highlighted about the entrepreneurship development through skill training programme and dissemination of technology to the fellow participants for income generation. He also pointed out the nutritional value of mushroom for balance diet. 

During the technical session, Imtinuksung, Dr Manoj Singh Sachan and Puchono Kweho delivered lectures on “Mushroom production techniques”.  In the afternoon technical session, Dr Ruokuovilie Mezhatsu showed a power point presentation on “Mushroom production technology” with illustration of “hands on Practice”.

Participants raised various queries during discussion hour and the scientists cleared theirs doubts. Hands on demonstration on mushroom cultivation by using various substrates like paddy straw, banana leave stalk, maize leaves and stalks were also demonstrated. In the practical session, the participants also took part in “Learning by doing”.

The inaugural programme was chaired by senior scientist & head, Dr Ruokuovilie Mezhatsu and the valedictory function was chaired by Imtinuksung, held on September 4.  A word of thank was delivered by Puchono Kweho. Certificates and mushroom spawn were distributed to the participants. Altogether, 15 participants of rural youth, women SHG and NGOs attended the programme. The participants expressed their satisfaction with the theory and practical work.
