KVK Phek conducted skill training for rural youth on “Protected cultivation of high value vegetables” from March 18 – 23 at Porba village. 

The training programme for rural youth was sponsored by “MANAGE” Hyderabad. 
A press release from Khrishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Phek stated that the programme began with a short speech by chief guest, president Farmers Union, Porba village, Vevo Dzudo. Senior scientist and head in-charge, Dr. T. Esther Longkumer, briefed the participants on the importance of skill training. 
Assistant chief technical officer (Horticulture), Dr. Rinku Bharali, delivered lectures on scope, design and types of protected structure, Hi-Tech nursery production, protected cultivation of high value vegetables, post-harvest management and economics of protected cultivation technology. 
An oral presentation on irrigation, nutrient and weed management in green house vegetables was delivered by Dr. T. Esther Longkumer. ACTO-plant protection, Liza Barua Bharali, gave a brief presentation on organic approaches for pest and disease management in green house vegetables. 
Demonstration on nursery raising techniques was conducted at KVK farm on different crops and interactions were also conducted after each session.
The programme concluded on March 23 and certificates were awarded to the participants. Altogether, 26 youth participated in the training programme.
