KVKs organise tree plantation drives in Wokha, Peren, Dimapur

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Wokha, Peren and ICAR KVK Dimapur organized tree plantation programmes in their respective campuses on September 17.   

KVK Wokha:  Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Wokha organised tree plantation programme-cum-Krishak Gosthi on September 17, at KVK campus Wokha. 
A press release from KVK Wokha, Longsachung, senior scientist, Dr Santosh Kr Baishya stated that during the programme, prog. asstt. (food technology) Thungchano S. Ezung, shared the ban on single use plastic, plastic waste management and importance of tree plantation. The programme was attended by 52 participants and 500 tree saplings were distributed as well as planted by the participants. 
Earlier, the programme was chaired by SMS (horticulture), Megokhono Meyase, SMS (agril. ext) Dr. Mhalo Tungoe, delivered the welcome address while SRF, ARYA Dr. Zuchamo Tongoe, pronounced vote of thanks. 
KVK Peren: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren district organised two-day training programme on production technologies of winter vegetables and value addition sponsored by Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Medziphema on September 16 and 17, at women welfare organization conference hall, Jalukie town. During the training, resource persons ACTO, soil,  Z. James Kikon, training in-charge, CIH Dr. Moasosang, ACTO, GPB Dr. Patu Khate Zeliang, ACTO animal science Dr. L. Babita Devi and CIH senior technical officer, Marina delivered lectures on various topics. Tree plantation and distribution drive as a part of Swachhta Hi Seva was also organised by KVK, Peren on September 17, at Jalukie town which was graced by Jalukie Town Ward No.4 chairman, Hauneu, as special guest. Altogether 46 farmers from different villages in Peren district attended the training programme.
More than 300 tree and fruit saplings were distributed and planted during the programme. 
 ICAR, KVK Dimapur: ICAR KVK Dimapur organised a tree plantation campaign and farmers interaction programme as part of Swachhta Hi Sewa on September 17 at Moava village where 153 farmers and officials attended.
Special guest, Rosemary Ezung SDAO, Medziphema encouraged the farmers to practice healthy farming and explained the different schemes available in the department for farmers especially Pradhan Mantra Manndhan Yojna (PM-KMY).
Special invitee, Henlal Hangsing vice president youth wing, NDPP acknowledged the work done by KVK Dimapur and requested the villagers to work hard and protect the environment. Resource persons, Mary N. Odyuo asst. profesor, NU SASRD spoke on soil health and water management. 
Short lectures were also delivered by Imliakum Pongen, farm manager and Roben Singh, ACTO KVK Dimapur respectively. 1000 nos. of agro-forestry and fruit tree saplings were distributed to the farmers of Maova village by the special guest. Plantation was also carried out in the premises of KVK hillock farm. The pogramme was chaired by Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie senior scientist & head KVK Dimapur and vote of thanks delivered by Lireni Kikon ACTO, KVK Dimapur.
