KVSU, Dolphin Club organise ‘Spero Meliora’

Kohima Village Students Union (KVSU) and Dolphin Club organised the 27th “Spero Meliora” under the theme “Break the ice and steal a march” at Kohima Village Council (KVC) hall here on Friday.

The inaugural programme of the two-day event, which will culminate on Saturday, was graced by DC Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie Sote as the special guest. In his speech, he lauded the KVSU and Dolphin Club for taking up the good initiative by targeting students and helping them to discover their talents and skills. He said this kind of programme has a positive impact in promoting the culture and can help the students realise and learn more of their cultural identities.  

He therefore, advised the organisers to rope in more schools from in and around the village and encouraged the students to make use of the opportunity. Students representing four Khels- Tsütuonuomia Students Union (TSU), Lhisemia Students Union (LSU), Dapfütsumia Students Union (DSU) and Pfuchatsumia Students Union (PSU) will be engaged in various competitions like debate, essay writing (English and Tenyidie), fine arts (painting and sketching), solo singing, spelling bee and quiz during the event. 

Earlier, the programme was blessed by Sr. catechist SFS parish, Vilasalie Belho followed by introductory note by organizing committee convenor Khrieketouzo Kesiezie and the singing of KVSU anthem. 

For the first time, the organizing committee has also organised a special event - an inter school quiz competition for higher secondary students, participated by six school in Kohima. 

Don Bosco Higher Secondary School won the competition followed by Baptist Higher Secondary School and third - TM Higher Secondary School.
