While appreciating the state government for taking up improvement of road works in Kohima town, the Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO) has expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace in the construction work over Sanuorü river and warned of action.

Interacting with media persons, KYVO officials led by president, Dzuvinguzo Mepfuo on Friday, said that the work order was issued on July 14, 2016 and the work was supposed to be completed within 18 months but it could not materialize.

This compelled KVYO to write a representation on August 13, 2018 to the chief minister for immediate repair of roads and execution of work at Sanuorü bridge.

KVYO also served an ultimatum to the department on October 16, 2018, and the work commenced on October 29 2018 with a commitment to complete a 2-lane bridge before this monsoon.

“But the execution of work which is hardly visible even after almost three years from the issue of work order and again put to rest for the onset of the monsoon is just unacceptable,” KVYO said.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the slow pace and “silly excuses,” the KVYO warned of action and for which the department shall be solely responsible in the event of any untoward incident.

It may be mentioned that the secretariat road leading to the state secretariat, assembly secretariat and most of the directorates collapsed due to flooding of Sanuorü stream on August 9, 2015.

A wooden bridge over Sanuorü bridge was built and inaugurated on August 22, 2017 but that was also washed away by food in August last year.
