KYO 56th sports meet kicks off at Kikruma

The 56th annual games and sports meet, organised by the Kikrüma Youth Organisation (KYO), kicked off Thursday at Kikruma local ground with NFCA president Roko Angami as the special guest.

Addressing the gathering, Roko said one can build comradeship, learn to be patient, discipline and have self-control through participation in games and sports.

To be a true sportsmanship, one must learn to be patient, said Roko while pointing out that Nagas tend to be short-tempered and also lack discipline. Hard work and self control goes a long way to becoming a sportsman, he said while adding that one should place God before anything else to be successful in life. 

He also informed that gathering that Nagaland Football Coaches Association (NFCA) will be organising a football coaching license course of AIFF (All India Football Federation) D level certificate from December 16-21 at Dimapur in a bid to improve the standard of football game in the state.  The D level certificate is followed by C B and A to be a professional coach, said Roko. NCFA intent is to support interested youth in the field of sports, particularly football, he said while encouraging interested people to come and attend the coaching license course.

Various events like football, volleyball and basketball for men and women, track events (dash, sprint, race and country race) and field events (high jump, broad jump, shot put, discus throw, javeline throw and triple jump) will be conducted during the 8-day meet. Seven khels from Kikrüma village are participating in the sports meet.
