KYO hands over bear cubs to NZP Dimapur

Khonoma Youth Organisation (KYO) under Kohima district donated two bear cubs to Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP), Dimapur on May 28.

A press release from KYO stated that, the 2-3 months old cubs were rescued by three Khonoma youths and handed over to the KYO. During a brief programme for handing over the cubs held at General Movu Memorial, Khonoma, KYO president Mhasilhoukho Yalie said that KYO strictly enforces conservation and preservation regulations by initiating action against defaulters. 

Wildlife ranger Dimapur Tokaho Kinimi on behalf of the chief wildlife conservator lauded Khonoma village for being pioneers of wildlife conservation and preservation in the state. He also assured of all possible help from the department to the KYO efforts in conservation and preservation. 

Director of NZP Rangapahar Dimapur, Dr Prabhat Kumar said the community involvement of Khonoma in conservation and preservation of wildlife was an example for many other districts. Handing over of the cubs to NZP shows the seriousness of the village in wildlife conservation efforts, he said, and assured best possible up keep for the cubs. 

Programme was chaired by KYO member Zakie Khate and prayer offered by KYO advisor Kevikielie Pier.
