Landslide blocks NH 702 D

A massive landslide totally blocked the National Highway 702D, (Mokokchung to Mariani) at Yimyu Ward, Mokokchung (between IOC to Jail Area).

Speaking to Nagaland Post, the Junior Engineer (NH) Imkongtemsu Jamir stated that the department has engaged two excavators and a dumper to clear the nearly 200 meters of road block due to the landslide.

The JE was optimistic that the road would be cleared by Monday the night if weather permits, since the restoration work was on full swing. He said the landlisde may reoccur and endanger those living below the road.

One of the nearby residents, Jenti Imchen, who lives just below the road also admitted that he was worried if the landslide would reoccur, as it used to happen earlier.

Landslide at Perizie colony
KOHIMA, AUG 27 (NPN): Landslides continue to occur at Perizie colony here below Razhükhrie Govt Higher Secondary School (RGHSS) playground where at least 43 houses including 35 kutcha houses and 8 RCC buildings were damaged on July 22 last. Perizie colony chairman, Akhie Liezietsu, told Nagaland Post that incessant rainfall has triggered fresh landslide in the area since Sunday.
He said colony road and KMC dumping road have been totally cut off by landslide, which occurred 1km below the colony. Liezietsu said continued landslides could affect other areas also besides affecting colony residences. 
Meanwhile, due to incessant rains on Monday, a house was damaged by landslide at Middle D Block Kohima. However, there was no report of any casualty.
