The 25th edition of late Nyamo and late Daniel Running Trophy organized by Dimapur Lotha Students Union will commence from October 28 at State Stadium Dimapur.

This year the prize money has been enhanced, where the champions will receive Rs. One lakh and runners-up will receive Rs. 70,000. Individual prizes such as best player (player of the tournament), best defender, highest scorer, best goal keeper and young emerging player, and best discipline team will also be awarded.

Addressing press conference at Lotha Hoho Ki Dimapur on Saturday, the organizer of the tournament stated that this year the trophy will be played under the theme, “reminiscing pioneers”.

It may be noted that the tournament was started in 1994, since then it has become an annual event and the standard of the game has been increased. This year also, Lotha players from all over the district including players from national level will be taking part.

The organizer is also expecting more teams in this year edition.

Meanwhile, Tsenthungo Lotha speaking on behalf of the family member of late Nyamo Lotha has thanked the DLSU for organizing the tournament successfully every year.

He said that the trophy has been contributed to the upcoming young footballers and leaders of the Lotha.

“For us this trophy is like a forum for the upcoming footballers and leaders”, he added.

Meanwhile, according to the organizer, forms will be available at N. Grocery Shop (near Lotha Hoho Ki) from October 14 on payment of Rs. 6000 as entry fee. The last date of submission is October 24 and fixture will be drawn on October 25. Further information can be contacted at 9774281721 (sports secretary) and 8974589662 (DLSU president).
