Late ND football trophy begins

Defending champions Lotha Colony Football Club (LCFC) thrashed Patkai LSU 4-0 in the opening match of the 25th late Nyamo and late Daniel Football Running Trophy at State Stadium, Dimapur on Monday. Hatsabemo of LCFC became the first player to score a hat-trick in this tournament in their team victory. The other goal was scored by Yantsothung.  Altogether 21 teams are participating in the tournament which is played on the theme, “Reminiscing pioneers”.  The tournament is organised every year in memory of late Nymao and late Daniel by Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union. 

Earlier, former vice chairman Lotha Hoho Dimapur and class-1 contractor, Dr. Roland Lotha graced the opening ceremony as special guest. 

In his address, he reminded the players, that sports was not only about winning the trophy but to win the hearts of the people and fellow players. 

He therefore, urged the players to play hard and win the hearts of atleast one fellow players through this tournament. The special guest further urged the players to maintain self-restraint and develop hard work in order to achieve success in life. On his arrival the special guest also unveiled the tournament flag. Welcome address was delivered by DLSU president, Benthungo Jungi. 

Speech on behalf of late Nyamo family was delivered by Tsenthungo Lotha and on behalf of late Daniel family by E.H. Lotha. 

The oath to the players was administered by DLSU games and sports secretary, Rhontsuthung Kikon. 

The final match and closing ceremony will be held on November 6, which will be graced by DMC administrator, Albert Ezung as special guest.
