Launching of NADCP & Swachhta Hi Sewa in Nagaland

Launching of the national animal disease control programme (NADCP) for foot and mouth diseases (FMD) and brucellosis and national artificial insemination programme (NAIP) by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was held on September 11, wherein Krishi Vigyan Kendras in Nagaland also participated with various programmes.

KVK Kohima: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kohima, organised a live webcast of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi launching the NADCP for FMD and brucellosis and NAIP on September 11. 

A press release from KVK senior scientist and head Dr. V. Akashe Zhimomi stated that, the programme was held at KVK conference hall for participating farmers of Tesophenyu, New Tesophenyu and Chunlikha villages respectively.

Nokchasashi ADC Tseminyu speaking as the chief guest emphasised the various flagship programmes launched by the central ministry for the welfare of the farming community and the right opportunity to avail its benefits. He also stressed that from October Tseminyu subdivision will be plastic free and encouraged the participants to follow suit. 

ADC declared the launching of NADCP & SHS for Tseminyu subdivision. Dr. Gwathanlo Tsela VAS, AH & VS Tseminyu highlighted on foot and mouth disease and brucellosis in cattle which was followed by demonstration on artificial insemination (AI)  carried out by the field functionaries of Veterinary department Tseminyu.

Celebration of Swachhta Hi Sewa starting from September 19 to October 2 was also officially launched consecutively by Nokchasashi ADC, Tseminyu from the KVK Kohima premises which kick started with tree plantation by ADC himself. 

The official programme was chaired by Dr. V. Akashe Zhimomi while vote of thanks was delivered by K Michael Pienyu ACTO (plant protection) KVK Kohima. Total of 46 members attended the programme.

KVK Peren: Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie Town, Nagaland organised a day workshop on “vaccination and disease management and artificial insemination and productivity” on September 11 at Women Welfare Hall, Jalukie town.

A press release by ICAR stated, that the workshop was graced by extra assistant commissioner (EAC), Jalukie town, C. Wangan as the special guest and dean, CVSc, CAU, Jalukie, Peren district, Dr. Capt. G. Dhananjaya Rao as the guest of honour.

During the technical session, associate professor, VPH, Dr. S. Mukherjee and assistant professor, gynecology, CVSc, CAU, Jalukie, Dr. Tukeshwar Chutia, delivered lectures on the topic “health care, disease management and vaccination in farm animals” and “artificial insemination and its importance”, which was followed by farmer scientist interaction.

The programme was chaired by ACTO (Soil Science), KVK Peren, Z. James Kikon, welcome and keynote address was delivered by senior scientist & Head i/c, KVK Peren, Dr. L. Babita Devi and vote of thanks by ACTO (PBG), KVK Peren, Dr. Patu K. Zeliang. 

KVK Phek: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Phek organised an one-day workshop, wherein the programme a brief welcome note was given by senior scientist and head KVK Phek. Officials from department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS) Phek, members of village councils, GBs, farmers from various villages participated in the programme. Special guest Zakamu Sakhamo, advisor, District GB Association Phek appealed the farmers for active participation during the Swachhta Hi Sewa programme and also urged the fellow farmers to ensure timely vaccination of their livestock. Vecuru Dzudo, public leader educated the gathering on the various government schemes & programmes for the welfare of the farmers. A presentation on vaccination, disease management and artificial insemination: tools to enhance livestock productivity was delivered by Dr Debojyoti Borkotoky SMS (Animal Sc) KVK Phek. Demonstration on AI and FMD vaccination in Mithun was given by Dr Esther Krocha, vety. asst. surgeon. Dr. T. Esther Lonkumer senior scientist and head KVKPhek briefed about the schemes PM Kisan Samman Nidhi & PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana in the local dialect. Live telecast of the Prime Minister’s inauguration was also shown and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Rinku Bharali, ACTO KVK Phek.
