As part of the 150 birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a lecture “Gandhi Katha” was delivered by chief functionary, Gandhian Forum of Ethical Corporate Governance New Delhi, Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna at durbar hall Raj Bhavan Kohima on November 6, organized by Raj Bhavan and department of Higher & Technical Education. 

Dr. Radhakrishna said that Mahatma Gandhi inspired people with a higher goal, a common purpose, identified latent talent, helped an ordinary individual to gain inner strength to participate in the non violent freedom movement and sacrifice their life in the service of the nation. She elaborated that the leadership traits of Gandhi showed ways to develop with higher ideals of truth, non violence and purity of means and transformed him as well as his followers.

Dr. Radhakrishna said Gandhi had a sharp intellect and cultivated the courage of conviction, rose above his considerations, worked selflessly and always vigilant to inspire people to rise to their potential as spiritual beings. She said Gandhi was spiritual and devoted person who prayed regularly and was inspired from the words from the Bible.   

She encouraged the students’ community to emulate all the good qualities possessed by Mahatma Gandhi and become a good leader. 

On the occasion, N.K. Naga Hindi album “how’s the Josh” was released by the governor R.N. Ravi. Naga is the first Naga Hindi singer whose song has been played in the para military series, production film and shot, Mumbai, winner of the beat of heart, Geet Zindagi Ki North East, you tube artist and winner in other competition.

Programme was led by Theyievino Whiso, opening remark delivered by commissioner and secretary T. Mhabemo Yanthan, special song on “Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram” presented by Hindi Diva Chumokedima, favourite songs of Gandhi “ when I survey the wondrous cross” and “lead, kindly light” were presented Japfü Christian college.

Programme was attended by governor and chief minister Neiphiu Rio and their wives, ministers, legislators, govt. officials, students of Japfü Christian college, model college, Mt. Olive College and Nagaland University (NU) Meriema, state college teacher education and others.
