Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) conducted one-day legal awareness seminar with the GBs, DBs, village councils and church workers of Helipong village on September 13, at Helipong village council hall. 

A press release from TDLSA chairman and secretary, Kumdilong Kessen stated that TDLSA panel lawyer, Soteth Anar spoke on the basic procedures of law (Cr.PC/CPC procedure provided under Rule for Administration of Justice & Police Act). He also highlighted the powers and functions of village council. 

Judicial magistrate first class and secretary TDLSA, Kumdilong Kessen, spoke on the various NALSA schemes and highlighted the procedures for applying victim’s compensation Act, relief and rehabilitation for the victims of disaster and natural calamities and arms Act. 

TDLSA also urged the gathering not to keep unlicensed gun at home in order to avoid unnecessary trouble. TDLSA project assistant Yimtsusangla Chang, spoke on the topic women and child’s right covering POCSO, domestic violence act, child marriage restraint Act, child labour, free and competent legal aid. 

She also highlighted some important points to keep in mind while dealing with the cases involving women and child in customary courts. 

At the programme, invocation prayer was said by pastor Helipong Baptist Church, while council chairman appreciated TDLSA for conducting legal awareness seminar. Altogether 40 participants attended the programme.
