LiveNow sets stage for HIRC

 As part of the Hornbill International Music Festival, the Hornbill International Rock Contest (HIRC) 2018 which was considered as one of the best and biggest Rock Contest in the country will kick start from December 5 at Dimapur and will culminate on December 8.

The HIRC as part of the 10-day long hornbill festival and audition for Nagaland was held Thursday at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA) Jotsoma. Briefing media persons on the lined-up event, before the start of the audition at RCEMPA Jotsoma today, former director MTF and consultant Gugs Chishi said branding of Hornbill International Rock Contest have touched the national and international arena. 

He said for 2018, 10 bands from Nagaland will be auditioned out of which four bands will be shortlisted to enter the competition and 20 bands will be shortlisted out of the 40 bands from outside the state for the contest.

Chishi informed that though international bands have conveyed their interest to participate he said there have been a few hitches, therefore there may be no international bands contesting this year. 

He informed as per the decision of the state government encourage and uplift the musicians, that winners from the mini hornbill festival will be given a platform during the Hornbill Rock Contest and music festival as per the winners for the Rock Contest will walk away with a cash prize of 10 Lakhs, Rs. 5 Lakhs to the 2nd runner up and 3rd runner up will get a cash prize of Rs. 3.5 Lakhs and other individual category prizes. 

LiveNow will manage the 10-day long HIMF. The director Atsung Jamir informed that on ont first day there will be Naga Musicians showcasing their talents while on the second day there will be "Praise Sunday" where Christian music will be given a platform and proceeds from the entry fee collection will be donated to charity in keeping with the concept "Hornbill giving back to the society".

He said Day three will see guitarists taking centre stage in the Great Hornbill Guitar Jamboree and the organizers had reserved day four event more special however informed that it will be informed once confirmed. Soulmate, a renowned band from Shillong will perform on day nine. The organizers also informed that an international DJ was expected to perform though final confirmation was still awaited. 

The four shortlisted bands from Nagaland are:  Udx – Dimapur; Since 90’S – Dimapur; Yellow Beacon – Dimapur And Switchblade - Kohima. Shortlisted national bands for HIRC: Moongphali (Delhi), Vishnu (Siliguri), Snuffer (Halflong), Skvi (Aizawl), Perfect Strangers (Bangalore), Her Illegal Practice (Gangtok), Vikrit (Ranchi), Tripp Pilots (Mumbai), Kroashia (Aizwal), Meraki (Darjeeling), Granite Yard (Gangtok), Ambush (Diphu),Tyrrhenian (Guwahati), Lost Icons (New Delhi), Rongbin the Secret Realm (Karbi Anglong), Quiet Battle (Shillong), Looking Glass (Pune), Existence (Ranchi), Pralaya (Darjeeling) and Highway 69 (Ranchi).
