Lokayukta sanction to charge sheet former Tourism commr & secy.

Nagaland Lokayukta, justice Uma Nath Singh has accorded prosecution sanction against a former commissioner & secretary for her involvement in illegal appointments in the Tourism department. Nagaland Lokayukta Police has will be submitting a chargesheet in the Special Court (PC Act) Kohima, “very soon”.

In a statement, IGP & director Nagaland Lokayukta Police, I. Meyionen informed that the Lokayukta justice Uma Nath Singh accorded ‘prosecution sanction’ under Section 26 of the Nagaland Lokayukta Act, 20 l 7 in respect of the then commissioner & secretary Tourism Angau I. Thou (retd) IAS for her alleged involvement in “illegal, back dated appointment of Tourist Officers and Tourist Assistants while serving in the Tourism department.” 

It was established that Thou allegedly manipulated records and also violated the Election Model Code of Conduct.  The statement further mentioned that Thou has been charged under Section 1208/ 420/ 465/ 466/ 468/ 471 IPC and section 13(1) (d) r/w Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for commission of the above offence.
