Highlights deficiencies in  district PWD (R&B) department

The Longleng District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) has recommended a series of changes and additions in the district’s Public Works Department-Roads & Bridges (PWD-R&B) to enhance the department’s functioning. The recommendations were sent to the government after being deliberated in its meeting held on April 25 at the Longleng DC’s Conference Hall, under the chairmanship of the DC Longleng, John Tsulise Sangtam.
According to DIPR, the DPDB recommended the creation of a PWD (R&B) Division in Tamlu, and also the stationing of an SDO (Mechanic) PWD in Longleng. It also recommended for some roads (currently under another district) to be included within the purview of the district PWD (R&B) Division.
These recommendations were chalked out after SDO (PWD) Er. Chingi Phom presented a report of his department. Besides the recommendations sent to the government, the SDO (PWD) had also brought up the need to stop rampant logging and coal mining near roads.
The members also discussed how to ensure that the district gets quality roads.
On the subject of the Pre-Monsoon Preparedness and State-wide Mass Social Work to be held on May 4, the DC said that further instructions will be given and a meeting will be called two days ahead to make necessary arrangements. He directed all government servants to take part in the Mass Social work failing which action shall be initiated against them.
Reviewing the last meeting minutes, the DC also urged HoDs to voluntarily contribute towards the construction of a Bore Well in Buranamsang. He stated that no government agency provides facilities for such projects and therefore, the DPDB was compelled to suggest voluntary contribution to meet this immediate need of the people. EAC Tamlu Nukshimatong also asked the members to contribute soon so that they may begin implementing their proposed plan at the earliest. He also listed the departments that have already made their contributions.
The next DPDB meeting will be held on May 7 where Yingli Government College will present the report of its functioning.
