Longleng teachers’ bodies demand appointment of DEO, SDEO by Sep 5

Three teachers’ bodies – All Nagaland School Teacher’s Association (ANSTA), All Nagaland Government Primary Teachers’ Association (ANGPTA), All Nagaland Hindi Teachers’ Union (ANHTU)– Longleng units have served an ultimatum to Department of School Education (DoSE) to appoint DEO and SDEO on or before September 5, which is Teachers’ Day.

The associations expressed serious disappointment at DoSE for not acting on the genuine plea made by Phom Students Conference to appoint the officers.

In a joint statement, Longleng unit ANSTA president Henshong Phom, ANGPTA president Phaulem Phom and ANHTU president Shumei Antony cautioned DoSE that they would not hesitate to observe black day on Teachers Day by wearing black badges as per the stir programme chalked out by PSC from September 1 to 5. They, therefore, appealed to the department to fulfil the demand of PSC before September 5.

The bodies reminded that it had submitted a joint representation to DC Longleng on July 27, seeking his intervention on the matter and to take it up with DoSE at the earliest. But, till date there was no positive response, it added.

Mentioning that the two offices were being managed without head of department, the three bodies warned the department that, if it failed to provide a concrete solution before the deadline, they would be force to take their own course of action and that the department would be held responsible for any eventualities.
