Loyola School, Jakhama emerged as the champions of 2nd Kohima District Inter-School Football Tournament defeating Mount Sinai HSS 3-2 via tie-breaker after the match ended 1-1 draw at local ground, Kohima on Monday.
The tournament was jointly organised by Royal Club Kohima, Department of School Education and Youth Resources & Sports. Altogether 30 schools participated in the tournament.  
The first half saw a scoreless draw with both teams failing to create enough chance to score. In the second half, Loyola School broke the deadlock through Ketohol Thao in the 51 minute. However, Toshisungzung equalised it in the 69th minute with a header.
A rejuvenated Mount Sinai team however failed to find the back of the net again as the match ended in 1-1 draw to take the match to spot kick where Loyola School prevailed over Mount Sinai HSS 3-2. 
Loyola School walked away with a cash prize of Rs 70,000 while the runner-up Mount Sinai Higher Secondary School received Rs 40,000. 
The two semi-finalists, Northfield and Chandmari HSS received Rs. 20,000 each. 
Vinongol Luho was adjudged as the player of the tournament. Northfield bagged the best cheering school while Chandmari HSS received the best-discipline award. 
The valedictory function was graced by advisor for Rural Development, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire as patron. In his short speech, Kire called upon the players to take up sports seriously and not be seasonal player if they are to take up sports as a profession. 
He called upon the participants to work hard and have firm determination. 
Kire also expressed gratitude to Royal Club Kohima, School Education Department and Youth Resources and Sports for organizing such an event to promote the youngsters.
