Naga Independence Day was observed by Lotha Regional Council (NNC) parent body (PB) on August 14 at Wokha, addressed by president of LRC Ekyimthung Patton.

A press release from LRC NNC (PB) stated that, Ekyimthung Patton, extended gratitude to the almighty God for His utmost care shown to “our” people. He saluted and paid homage to the comrades, both death and alive, who have declared this historic day as Naga Independence Day to make known to the world for recognition.

He also appealed to the citizens and all factions to come out and face the situation unitedly to work out the Naga political problem on the principle of 1929 memorandum of the Naga Hills (All Naga inhabited area) and 1951 plebiscite (a political referendum) for permanent solution. under one umbrella administration.

Ekyimthung hoped that all factions of Naga national workers repent, reconcile, and make one platform, then the GOI cannot deny the Naga national right. He added that Indians and Nagas must not fight anymore like savages, in the past many years, but solution must be achieved at the earliest.
