Longwa Students’ Union (LSU) has strongly condemned the “brutal” rape of an 88-year- old woman allegedly by her nephew on September 3 at Longwa village.

A press release by LSU president, Gangpai Wangsa and general secretary T Nahlak Wangnao claimed that the accused Aching, son of late Khaopa of Longwa village raped his own aunt at around 11 pm at his residence. LSU expressed dismay and agonized by such “shameful and inhuman act which spoils the identity of Longwa village in particular and Konyak tribe in general.”  LSU further alleged that the accused, Aching “ had in the past been involved in robbery, harassment, rape and other anti-social activities in the village several times even and he is without a  doubt a threat to the peaceful environment of the village community.” LSU demanded that the law enforcing agency award befitting punishment according to law.
