Former Meghalaya Urban Affairs Minister, Mazeal Ampareen Lyngdoh has resigned from her post as Congress Secretary in-charge of Mizoram after Rahul Gandhi resigned as Congress president over the national election defeat.

“.... I have sent in my resignation as AICC Secretary i/c of Mizoram. I thank sir @RahulGandhi for giving me this opportunity to work for the party,” the opposition Congress legislator tweeted on Wednesday.    “We can do few other important things than just occupy important posts at the AICC,” she added.  Prior to putting in her papers, Lyngdoh had told journalists she has decided to resign from the post of the AICC in-charge Mizoram to pave way for the formation of a new team Congress. “The congress President had appointed me as the AICC in-charge of Mizoram and it is but fair for me also to tender my resignation and to pave way for the formation of the new team Congress,” she had said.

“It is something which is to be done and we expect the new president will definitely have a new idea of managing the Congress party and it would be awkward for me as an AICC secretary to continue,” she added.
