Müleciyi Vadeo, a 16-year-old lad from Rünguzu Nagwü village, emerged as the champion of the 1st Under-16 category of the 27th Wrestling tournament of the Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) at Phek Town on Wednesday. 

Vadeo, who was also the champion of Chozuba Range Wrestling Association, defeated 15-year-old Thenuveyi Vero of Chepoketa village by two straight bouts in the final to take the title. 

Johi Rhakho stood in third and Phrüpe Lomi in fourth position respectively of the junior category. 

The champion received Rs. 25,000 followed by second with Rs. 20,000, while third and fourth positions received Rs 15,000 and 10,000 respectively. 

Chokri Area Wrestling Association was awarded the group champions and received a sum of Rs. 10,000. 

Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) vice president Nikhrolo Khalo graced the occasion as the valedictory guest.

The two-day tournament was hosted by Phek Area Wrestling Association (PAWA) and managed by the Losami Baptist Church (LBC).

The new CWA office bearers were also elected for the tenure 2020-24 with Vekhozo as the president, Kuzhovesa Soho as general secretary, Vezoho Ruho and Keniezo Puro as vice president.
