M-RVC meeting reports from across state

In preparation for the upcoming Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign (M-RVC) to be launched in Nagaland from October 3, the department has been conducting a number of coordination meetings across the state.

Peren: A one day sensitization-&-training on M-RVC for all the Church Leaders under Peren Block was held at District Hospital Peren on August 10.

A press release from CMO office Peren, District Media Officer Pezanguno Celine Secii said Dr. Nukshisangla Jamir, DPO UIP/RCH highlighted the importance and objectives of the MR Campaign. She stated that the target for Nagaland is 7 lakh children. She specified that unlike the polio campaign which usually involves health workers visiting door to door, this MR vaccine will be given only at the session sites.

She further called upon all the church leaders to cooperate with, advocate and broadcast intensive positive awareness the MR Campaign for it to be a success in the district.

The program was chaired by Melenguno, BPM Peren and invocation prayer was led by Rev. Suitei Ndang, Baptist Church Peren Town.

Dr. John, paediatrician DH Peren explained the importance, purpose and functions of the MR vaccine.

Phek: The District Task Force held a meeting on M-RVC on August 10 at the office of Deputy Commissioner, Phek and in the presence of EAC Phek, Luchui Fithu.

At the meeting, the status of the pre-campaign preparation was explained to members present by DPO RCH/UIP, Kolhitso Khalo who also requested the administration and allied department officials at the block level to inspect the session sites during the M-RVC.

RRT WHO, Dr. Prafull Singh highlighted the upcoming workshop programs for ANMs, ASHAs and Anganwadi workers. Allied departments and Assam Rifle, Phek also highlighted their activities and promised to give their full cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Dy CMO, Dr. Vethihulu, School Education department, Medical Officer AR, DPM, BPM and DCM.

Zunheboto: A sensitisation meeting on the M-RVC for principals & nodal teachers of government and private schools under Zunheboto sadar was held on August 9.

A press release from CMO office Zunheboto, district media officer, Sophie Akho stated that Dr. Mulasato Keyho, MO i/c Asuto PHC, Zunheboto welcomed the participants and briefed them about the objectives of the workshop. He encouraged the participants to work with dedication and sincerity for the upcoming MR Campaign. He also stressed on the micro planning, recording, reporting and monitoring tools. Dr. Keyho also highlighted the rollout plan with timelines and other guidelines, planning of schools and outreach MR Campaign

Shekho Sophie, apprised the participants on the country’s MR update, elimination strategies and basic strategies of the campaign. He also spoke on the objectives of the MR communication plan.

Dr. Shikatoli Achumi, MO, RBSK gave a briefing about the AEFI treatment and management. 

Dr. Imsongienla, MO, RBSK laid emphasis on organising vaccination sites, injection safety and waste management during the M-RVC. The training was attended by principals, head teachers, administrators and teachers i/c of government and private schools under Zunheboto Sadar.
