M-RVC State Task Force meeting

The State Task Force of the Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign (M-RVC) held a meeting on September 6 with commissioner & secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Himato Zhimomi as the chairman.

A DIPR report said that the meeting discussed the progress of the activities till date for the campaign.

The commissioner & secretary expressed concern for the campaign in the state. He said proper data should be ready before the assessment campaign and also accuracy of the target population must be projected well in the overall process of the campaign. He appreciated the State Task Force, particularly the Health & Family Welfare department, for working hard for the campaign.

Health & Family Welfare department gave a slide-show presentation on preparedness assessment of the campaign including supervision plans, assigning district and block monitors with detailed supervisions plans, IEC & Communication-Sensitisation of schools and parents and private practitioners, funding, Education department’s involvement in the microplaning process, and similar checklists which are to be used at randomly selected planning units.

Deliberations were also held regarding documentation of all activities which is to be kept ready at the state, district and block levels for assessment review. The assessment period is from September 10 to 15. The assessment team will review and then decide whether Nagaland was prepared to conduct the campaign from October 3 or if it should be deferred.

A state level workshop on media and religious leaders for debriefing will also be held on September 15 under the chairmanship of principal secretary and with the participation of the Education, ICDS and IPR departments. The M-RVC will be launched officially on October 3. Representative of Lion’s club of Dimapur also attended the meeting.
