Making dream project into reality

By Nagaland Post | Publish Date: 2/7/2019 11:19:16 AM IST

To achieve common goal we need patience, unity, sincerity, preparedness, and above all prayer. The year 2013 was a year of redemption especially for 10 Naga tribes of Nagaland (Ao, Sema, Kyong, Rengma, Phom, Sangtam, Chang, Konyak, Yimchunger and Khiamniungan) and indeed it was for a long awaited special mission known as “People’s Project” for the construction of the Foot Hill Road.

As we all know, the basic, vital and primary path towards development of our socio-economic is only through good road connectivity. The above mention 10 Naga tribes has suffered enough and continue to struggle and suffer till date because of one major problem, i.e. road connectivity. Having realized the urgent needs for the people, the Ao Senden initiated and called upon the other 9 tribes to fulfil the common goal for the construction project of the Foot Hill Road and of which a co-ordination committee was formed. The spontaneous response from the whole 10 tribes along with immense support from its members in general, the “People’s Project” for the construction of the foot Hill Road has come to reality. From the very outset, the 10 tribes pledge full co-operation and support towards this project:- such as no land compensation and no taxation from any organizations etc.

The Government of Nagaland also stand committed for the construction of the foot Hill Road and subsequently the state Govt. decided to enclosed this project in the priority list to the Central Govt. Accordingly the Central Govt. sanction Rs.70 Crore vide order dated 21/10/2013 towards the construction of Foot hill Road project and out of the said sanction amount Doyang Bridge and earth cutting at some area was done. However, thereafter no further sanction was received either from Central nor from the State Govt. and the Foot Hill Road project remain half done for the past 6-7 years.

I, as a proud member of this “People’s Project” for the construction of the foot Hill Road, I can still sense the same strong commitment and confident from all apex tribal leaders/hohos, Nagaland Foot Hill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) and all members of 10 tribes towards achieving our mission. It is at this phase that certain situation arises just to demoralize our mission, but we all know that we (together) have come so far in achieving this unique and extraordinary project into reality and it’s no time to take it easy nor surrender.

Since, no further sanctions/funds from the center and state governments, as mention above, our project has been lying unattended for the past 6-7 years, I wanted to put up one humble suggestion/opinion. To relieve some pressure in regard to our current financial situation in our “People’s Project” for the construction of the foot Hill Road, that all Govt. employees and pensioners of the respective 10 tribes to contribute one day wage and also the other bonafide members who are unemployed from age 20 yrs and above to contribute Rs. 200/- only towards our project.

In conclusion, I appeal to all 10 tribal hohos and its members to continue working towards achieving this dream project into reality, because our today’s work shall determine our future and also to set an example that through togetherness, patience, unity, humble etc, we as a simple human being can achieve and create wonders and have a major positive impact in our future generation. God bless us all.
