Manipur’s leading civil society organizations (CSOs) Thursday announced a 24-hour general strike in Manipur on August 1 in protest against Centre’s “divide and rule policy” over Framework Agreement signed between Government of India and NSCN (I-M).

United Committee Manipur, All Manipur United Clubs Organization and Committee of Civil Society Organization informed that the general strike will begin from midnight of July 31.

Addressing a press conference here, leaders of the CSOs accused Centre of playing a “divide and rule policy” in Manipur with the Framework Agreement.

They also criticized Manipur government for not discussing the report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Framework Agreement in the recently concluded Assembly session. The civil society organizations further announced that it would organize a mass rally on August 18 on the same issue.
