Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh Thursday said that state government would construct four food processing units having cold storage facilities in the state with financial assistant from the Centre.

Addressing the inaugural function of the 11th State Level Pineapple Festival at Khousabung in Churachandpur district, Singh said that the processing units worth Rs. 20 crore each would be constructed at four different places.

The list had already been forwarded to the Central government and Khousabung of Churachandpur famous for its pineapple has been included in the list, he added. Singh further said that necessary steps would be taken to revamp the Moirang-Khousabung road either under PMGSY or state PWD work programme at the earliest.

The chief minister also said that playground in Khousabung village would also be developed under Central government scheme “Khelo India”.

He said that 18 places had been identified for the construction of Sadbhavna Mandaps (community halls) in different parts of the state.  State government will also consider construction of a common multipurpose hall for different communities residing in the area as well, he added.
