In a joint statement, legislators have appealed to the two communities—Zeliang and Sumi-- for peace and unity in these times. They also urged “our brothers to remain calm and extend support to the Government to bring this issue to an end.” Further, the Sumi legislators appealed to “all the well-wishers and sympathizers to refrain from further escalating the issue by enraging the sentiments of the two communities but to uphold the spirit of brotherhood and support the two communities towards peaceful co-existence and a positive settlement to the issue”.

Meanwhile, the Sumi legislators have conveyed their deepest condolences to the bereaved families. The Sumi legislators included Ministers-- G. Kaito Aye, Jacob Zhimomi; advisors-- Phukayi Sumi, Tovihoto Ayemi, KT Sukhalu, Khehovi Yepthomi, Kazheto Kinimi, Er. Picto Shohe; MLAs-- Azheto Zhimomi, Y.
