Market shed inaugurated at Punglwa B

A roadside market shed of the Self Help Group (SHG) village federation of Punglwa ‘B’ was inaugurated by Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jalukie on September 1.

A press release from North East Rural Livelihood Project (NERLP) Peren district project manager, Ruuvilie Kotsu stated that the project was supported by North East Rural Livelihood Project under ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) government of India funded by the World Bank. The total cost of the project was Rs.973200 of which Rs.953200 was acquired from project support and Rs. 20,000 was contributed by the community .

Ruuvilie Kotsu briefed the villagers about the various activities taken up by North East Rural Livelihood Project across the district. He said out of the five approved market sheds under the value chain component; Punglwa B’ was the second village to have completed the activity within the stipulated time leading to the inauguration. 

Dr. Tinojongshi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jalukie encouraged the villagers to continue to be productive and sustain themselves through their own means. He also mentioned that the state highway crossing Punglwa ‘B’ was the only route connecting Peren to other districts, hence, he was confident that the market shed would flourish and enhance the income of villagers.

Earlier the program was chaired by Paisuibale SHGVF secretary; a welcome address was delivered by Heiseilule; a prayer was offered by the local pastor; SHGVF members presented a special song; and vote of thanks was delivered by Kengosile P.G, president.
