Mass communication students of PCC visit Gaili

Patkai Christian College (PCC) second year students from department of Multimedia and Mass Communication (MMC) visited Gaili village in Peren district on October 19.

A press release from PCC stated that, under the course curriculum “Communication for rural engagement”, field trip is a mandatory exercise for the students pursuing degree course in Mass Communication. 
During the exposure trip, the students interacted with the villagers to get insights about the socio-economic and cultural condition of the village. The group of students were divided into three teams. The teams were directed to carry out “Transect Walk” from the entrance of the village to different end parts of the village. “Transect Walk” is a tool that shows and describes the village in its original form with the help of members of the community.
Village development board (VDB) secretary, Iteibambe Hau, primary teacher, Govt Primary School, Keyigumbe, village council members, Teisibe and Ibasile were the primary connecting link between the students and the villagers. 
The village representatives led the student teams to as many as 50 households during the transect walk. The department will make the field report available to the policy makers concern in designing a road map for further development of Gaili village. The whole transect and social mapping exercise was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Dakter Esse, HoD MMC, PCC. 
Meanwhile, first year students under the guidance of their teacher Rojenn Wahengbam did a photography exercise in the village.
