Mavericks Cricketing Souls, Hurricane CC in semis

Mavericks Cricketing Souls (MCS), Mokokchung, defeated Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home (KODH) by 10 wickets and Hurricane CC defeated defending champion Royal Strikers by 16 runs to book their semifinal berths of the 23rd edition of Winter Cricket Challenge.

In a low scoring first match of the day, KODH elected to bat first after winning the toss and set up a victory target of 88 runs. With a strong bowling attack from MCS, the batsmen of KODH could garner only 87 runs. Timothy, Philip Bemo and Zuben were the only batsmen who reached two figures with 14, 13 and 10 runs respectively. 

Mavericks Cricketing Souls, with the help of a quickfire 58 runs off 23 from Nirpin, took just five overs to reach the target. Longsasunep also scored 27 runs off 13 balls. Nirpin was adjudged the man of the match. 

In a close second match of the day, the skipper of Hurricane CC won the toss and opting to bat first set up a victory target of 151 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Mhabemo scored 39 runs, Chonbenthung made 29 runs and Myingthungo contributed 22 runs. Jubin claimed 2 wickets for Royal Striker.

Royal Strikers played out the inning 16 runs short of the victory target losing 9 wickets. Hakao scored 26 runs while Dipu and Wapang made 25 and 17 runs respectively.

Renjanthung, who claimed three important wickets and made 18 runs, was adjudged the man of the match.
