MCCK hold cultural, literary day & Miss Nagaland campus audition

 Model Christian College Kohima (MCCK) held its cultural day and literary day on September 6 and 7 at the college auditorium. BASN organised its “Miss Nagaland” campus audition on the second day of the college event, wherein six college girl participated.

The 12th cultural day of the college was observed under the theme “Promote and Enrich Culture”. 

Assistant professor and HOD Sociology, Dr. Kekhriesenuo Christina was the speaker for the event while chairman TTC (AG), Swelul Pucho graced the occasion as special guest. 

“Culture is us, who we are, and what we are and that it was people who represent culture” explained Dr. Kekhriesenuo. She said Nagas’ culture was threatened by several forces such as westernization and that there was a need to protect and preserve culture, saying “Culture is our identity, if we lose it, we lose ourselves.”

She encouraged the students to work towards reinvigorating the good old traditions and to go back to the roots through documentation of culture, preservation of cultural relics and heritage. 

The special guest, Swilul in his speech quoted “The brave do not abandon their culture” while encouraging the students to become torch bearers to their true Naga culture.

The programme was followed by fusion song and a play on a Naga folktale, folk dance and attire show in the second session.

The literary day was celebrated on the second day of the event. MCCK vice principal, Dr. Nungshikokla Jamir encouraged the students to dare and dream for education that will manifest humanity. 

Various competitions were held between the four groups namely Rennaissance, Blazers, Shield, and Guardians. The competitions included group song, quiz, photography, extempore speech, talent show, debate, etc. Rennaissance emerged as the group champion.
