Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) felicitated around 80 students of its community securing more than 70% in their HSLC and HSSLC examinations, on June 23, at covenant hall, Christian Hr. Sec. School (CHSS), Dimpaur.

Addressing the gathering as the special guest, H Tovihoto Ayemi, advisor Power, in his speech acknowledged the students for their hard work and determination. He also acknowledged the MCD for recognising the hard work put in by students of its community and encouraged them to work more for betterment of the students.

He pointed out that it was the responsibility of parents, teachers and organizations to support and motivate students in any field they chose, so that they can be inspired and perform their best.

Tovihoto later urged the students not to be proud of their success, but rather encouraged them to be more humble and to work harder, as success is never ending, but rather a journey.

Special invitee, H K Khulu, in his speech acknowledged the students for their success and also MCD for organizing a programme dedicated to felicitate the successful students of the Dimapur Muslim community. He quoted John Ruskin saying, “The highest reward for a person’s toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it”. He encouraged the students to choose an attitude that looks at life with an open mind and to be victorious, rather than choosing one that will victimised by various circumstances or people.

He opined that attitude was self created and that one was free to choose attitude to deal things in life.

Khulu also appealed students to limit their time spent on digital world and not to forget human touch. He reminded that along with academic excellence, one should grow to be a productive member of the society.

President, DDCF, Joseph Lemtur, general secretary, DNSU, Mhajan Tsopoe, vice president, NCD, Ghokheto Chophy and Basu Damani, also delivered short speeches at the programme.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by working president, MCD, A Rahman, and welcome note was delivered by president, MCD, A Hannan Tapadar.
