As part of the national strategy to eliminate measles and control rubella in the country, Wokha also organized a district level workshop on Saturday here at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC’s) Conference Hall, Wokha.
DC Wokha, Dr.  Manazeer Jeelani Samoon in his address lauded the noble initiative by the Government of India and stressed on the need for involvement of every stakeholder and multi-sector participation for the success of the program.
To achieve the MR target of covering 80% of the total population, the DC said consultative meetings with the DEOs and CDBOs were necessary. It is also necessary to involve religious organizations, village functionaries and educational institutions for the successful implementation of the MR campaign, he stated. Seema S. Koshal RRT-WHO, dwelt on the objective of the workshop, Measles Rubella, country update, elimination strategies, epidemiology and rational for MR campaign, basic of micro planning for MR vaccination campaign, school micro planning for MR vaccination, MR vaccine and cold chain and logistics management.
 Dr. Khelito Zhimomi, DPO-UIP/RCH spoke on planning, recording, reporting and monitoring tools and the rollout plan with timelines and other guidelines. Dr. Chibenthung, MO Humtso PHC spoke on AEFI treatment/management during the MR campaign and organizing vaccination session sites including injection safety & waste management in the campaign and Dr. Kuokholie Savino, RBSK-MO Wokha emphasized on the importance of FAQs including routine immunization and advocacy communication and social mobilization.
 Medical officers, representatives from CHCs, PHCs, Army hospital, NEEPCO hospital, BACs and BPMs attended the day-long workshop. Earlier, chief medical officer, Wokha Dr. Robin Lotha delivered the welcome address.
