Medical department trains health workers

State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department conducted trainings on Family Planning Logistic Management and Information System (FP-LMIS) and Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) - Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) for health workers across Nagaland.

Phek: Training on FP-LMIS for block program managers, community health officers and 

Auxiliary Nursing Midwiferies (ANMs) was conducted on October 8 at the Conference Hall of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Phek.

A press release by CMO Phek office stated that state FP-LMIS consultant of Manipur and Nagaland, Kh Kanta was the resource person of the training.

The release informed that FP-LMIS is a dedicated software to ensure smooth forecasting, procurement and distribution of family planning commodities across all the levels of health facilities. It’s a web based, mobile and SMS based application that deals with demand forecasting, procurement, inventory management and monitoring of family planning commodities from national level to Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) level. 

FP-LMIS would also provide a common platform for effective supply chain management including forecasting and demand- based supply. The application would help in calculating annual demand and usage for online inventing, distribution and stock management linking up stores/ warehouses, health facilities and frontline workers with this software. The programme was chaired by DPM NHM Phek, Sede Rupreo and welcome address was delivered by deputy CMO Phek, Dr.Chitale Hiese.

Dimapur: Refresher training on IDSP-IHIP for health workers under Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur was held batch-wise from September 28 to October 7 at the Conference Hall CMO Dimapur.

A press release by CMO Dimapur office stated that 66 health workers were given hands-on instruction on how to upload quality data from their respective health units.

The resource persons were surveillance co-ordinator, Jhpiego-NISHTHA, Dr. Antara Sharma and data manager, IDSP Dimapur, Aomar and supported by Dr.Molung Jamir (epidemiologist). 

At the training, district surveillance officer Dimapur, Dr.Kavito Zhimomi stressed on the importance of daily reporting and providing quality data for strengthening the disease surveillance system.

Mokokchung: Re-orientation training of healthcare workers on IHIP was held from September 21 to October 7 at Alongkima, Tsurangkong, Tuli, Changtongya, Ongpangkong and Mangkolemba blocks under Mokokchung district.

A press release by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mokokchung office stated that the training was organised by IDSP with surveillance coordinator, NISHTHA, Jhpiego, Angelina Jungi as the resource person.

The release stated that the purpose of the training was to improve the S, P, L forms data reporting in IHIP portal and the trainees were oriented on transition from IDSP paper-based reporting to IHIP - case based surveillance, sickness and death reporting, event alert generation and outbreak investigation.

A total of 60 health care workers were trained, which included medical officers, CHOs, ANMs, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, LDAs and medical attendants.
