Meeting on illegal immigrants

Civil administration, Police, Lotha Students Union (LSU), Lotha Eloe Hoho (LEH) and Lotha Hoho Bhandari (LHB) held a meeting at ADC chamber on September 11, Bhandari to discuss on the possible influx of illegal immigrants to the state. 

According to DIPR report, this was necessitated in the event of release of NRC list by the government of Assam and to take up steps to check and prevent their entry into the state through the border areas by taking adequate measure by all concern. 

During the meeting which was held in the presence of the ADC Bhandari, Tiameren Chang, the students’ leaders led by its president and general secretary Libemo Tsopoe and Ashanthung Humtsoe highlighted on the issues on NRC and the activities taken up by the student body to prevent illegal immigrants.

ADC asked the police to strengthen the police check gate and monitor strictly stating that no non-locals should be allowed to enter the state without required valid pass.

He also sought cooperation from all the NGOs and civil societies while checking ILP. 

All the members present assured that they would extend all possible cooperation and assistance to the administration and police to prevent entry of any doubtful and non-local people.
