A 42-year-old woman in Meghalaya, who had tested positive for fourth consecutive time for Novel Coronavirus, has tested negative for the virus in her fifth re-test, health official said on Tuesday.

“The swab sample of the patient has tested negative in her fifth re-test,” Director of Health Services, Dr. Aman Warr said.

“She is absolutely fine and stable. We will send her swab sample to North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) after 24 hours to ascertain if the patient has recovered,” the medical official said.

The woman is a family friend of Meghalaya’s first COVID-19 patient Dr. John L Sailo Rynthathing, who succumbed to the virus.

She was tested positive for the virus on April 15, while Dr Sailo who tested positive on April 13, passed away on April 15.

So far out of the 13 COVID-19 positive cases, which include one deceased, 10 have recovered and one case is still active that of a maid from the residence of the first COVID-19 victim in the State.

The woman had tested positive for the virus on Saturday.

Health official said that the maid apparently broke quarantine protocols to buy essential commodities for the family.

Till Monday evening, 2480 people in the state have been tested, out of whom 2342 have tested negative and samples of 125 tests are awaited.
