Mercury dips in the state capital

Temperature in the state capital Kohima has plummeted to 5 degrees below normal recording a low of 8 degrees Celsius on November 23. 
Following the post-monsoon/autumn rain on November 21 which signals the oncoming of winter, the temperature of the capital on Monday had recorded one of the lowest for this season so far.
The average temperature for the month of November stands at a high of 20.6°C and a low of 13.1°C for Kohima while the national average stands at 27°C and 13°C respectively.  
Earlier this year a record low of 4 degrees above the freezing point was recorded on January 24 and 26 which were the lowest for the year.
According to Weather Atlas, the rain falls for the month in the capital is pegged at 3.6 days and regularly aggregates up to 35.2mm (1.4”) of precipitation. While the average length of day has dropped to 10.9h. Skymet Weather has predicted that Northeast India is expected to receive light to moderate rains and thundershowers in the next 24 hours.
