Mission Indradhanush committee meeting held

A State Steering Committee Meeting for Extended Mission Indradhanush under Gram Swaraj for Aspirational District (Kiphire) and Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign was held on August 16 at the Chief Secretary’s Conference hall, under the chairmanship of chief secretary, Temjen Toy. 

According to DIPR, NITI AAYOG under the extended Mission Indradhanush under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (GSA) has identified 115 aspirational districts (ADs) in India with Kiphire district being one among them, and 16 villages have been selected by the MoHFW. Vaccination sessions will be carried out in the entire district in three rounds from July to September 2018.

Dr. Archana, RRT (WHO) Nagaland, gave a presentation on M-RVC preparedness. She said that the vaccine protects against measles and rubella. It will be introduced nationwide through the campaign in schools, government hospitals, health centers and outreach sessions. Children in the age group of 9 months to less than 15 years should get the Vaccine shot irrespective of their previous immunization status. Dr. Archana added that the success of this campaign will require support from teachers, various departments, Women & Child Development, information & Broadcasting etc. The MR campaign will start from October 3.

Temjen Toy, who chaired the meeting, appreciated the Health & Family Welfare Department for the campaign. He appealed to the departments to reach the vaccine to people through active participation and he promised the government’s help in all possible way if or when required.
