Mizoram lift NE Girls Football trophy

Mizoram XI lifted the North East (U-19) Girls Football trophy after defeating Sikkim XI 3-0 in the final at IG Stadium, Kohima on Sunday.

The tournament was organised by HQ IGAR (N) Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ DGAR.
In the final match, Mizoram XI was the more aggressive team with its attacking game right from the start, but could not break the strong Sikkim XI defence in the first half. Mizoram XI, however, came back stronger in the second half and got the first breakthrough in the 15th minute of the second half. Two more goals were scored back to back in the 73rd and 78th minute.  
Brig Satbir, SM*, Dy IG AR (N) gave away the trophy, citations and a cheque of Rs.75,000 to the champion team. The runners-up also received Rs 50,000, trophy and citations. 
In the individual award, Miriam Lalnungsiam of Mizoram XI who scored a total of 6 goals received the golden boot while Zairemmawii was adjudged the valuable player and Reema Gurung of Sikkim XI was named the best custodian. Teams standing 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th also received Rs.30,000, Rs.20,000, Rs.15,000, Rs.12,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs.8,000 respectively.
